New Home design/Build
Metchosin, BC. Unbuilt House Size: 2400 Sq.Ft. Lot Size: 1/3 Acre A veteran Military chef sought a refuge, a retirement sanctuary, where she could sneak away to. A hillside building lot overlooking the sea and the Metchosin valley to the West, became an ideal location for the design of her home. The land did include some development restrictions and conditions, beyond the challenging topography. That topography and setbacks determined that the house would be oriented Northeast-to-Southwest along the site. Other factors such as the local vernacular, aesthetics and building heights, furthered the inspiration to stagger the home down the stepped site. The upper/entry level would include a bright Entryway, Garage, an Office, a large Kitchen and Dining area and Great room. The upper level would also include a large Master Bedroom retreat. The lower level would consist of Guest quarters, a flex room for future possibilities, and storage and a mechanical space. As per the neighborhood conditions, sustainable materials and a neutral palette were chosen to blend the home to the land, surrounding environment, and the neighborhood.
